The University of Canberra is seeking an experienced Associate Professor in Financial Accounting in the Faculty of Business, Government & Law to provide leadership and strategic direction in fostering excellence in teaching and learning, research, and professional engagement in the School. As an experienced Associate Professor, your success in the role is underpinned by your ability to encourage and engage in the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, as well as conducting research, promote early career researchers and developing research policy.

The Faculty of Business, Government & Law is the largest faculty in the University, with a vibrant teaching and research environment. The Faculty is committed to its three core principles of enterprise and innovation, social value and responsibility and sustainability and aims to lead multi-disciplinary research and teaching in these areas.  The neXus Research Centre ( is central to the Faculty’s research profile.   It is home to over 4,000 students, including more than 150 registered higher degree by research students, located in four schools: Government and Policy; Accounting; Law and Justice; and Management. Central to our research agenda is an inclusive, stakeholder-focused and engaged research community.

Reporting to the Head of School, School of Accounting and Finance, you will be expected to participate as an active leader of the Faculty including provision of strategic and policy advice to him. You will have experience in the successful design and re-design of curriculum; contribute to flexible modes of academic program development and delivery including blended and online modes; attracting higher degree candidates and provide high quality supervision. Your strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective links with industry, relevant professional bodies, government departments (ACT and Commonwealth) and community groups relevant to the initiatives of the School and the Faculty, as well as with employers of graduates and strengthen mechanisms for maintaining contacts with alumni and productive links with international education and research institutions are imperative to supporting the University. As an experienced senior academic staff with a PhD in Financial Accounting, you will maintain personal academic standing and work with colleagues to build local, national and international recognition for the School, Faculty and the University. Your demonstrated extensive research leadership experience of holding nationally recognised research track record of significant and high-quality publications in reputable journals and emerging international recognition, attracting external research funding and managing funded research projects to convert these into commercial outcomes for the Faculty and University will be instrumental to your success within the role.
