About the role:

The School of Information Technology & System in our Faculty of Science and Technology is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Lecturer in Software Engineering to the University in support of a major strategic program to grow student numbers, the Education Transformation and Growth Program (ETaG). This role will play a crucial role in the planning, development, and delivery of various units for the Bachelor's and Master's programs.

We are looking for individuals with demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: multiple computer programming languages, DevOps technologies, full stack development, Agile and test-driven software development, massive parallel and distributed software platform architectures, embedded, mobile and cloud platform programming, multimedia game programming and development, visual interactive computing, and graphical visualization techniques.

Key responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Coordinate, design and convene units in the discipline of your expertise,
  • Manage unit-specific online learning sites as required,
  • Provide high-quality supervision of students,
  • Assist in the continual improvement of teaching resources and materials for relevant units,
  • Increase student engagement and learning outcomes using evidence-based teaching practices,
  • Undertake teaching activities in other undergraduate and/or Honours level units.

About you:

The successful applicant will have:

  • A completed (or near completion) PhD or equivalent in Computing, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the specified areas.
  • Proven experience in teaching and supervision at the tertiary level.
  • Strong commitment to student engagement and the use of innovative teaching practices.
  • Industry certifications from leading technology vendors are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and leading industry certification from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, and other Open Source Software Technology Vendors would be an added advantage.
