About the opportunity:

Are you a creative and strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling, who thrives in a fast-paced environment? We are looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our Media and Communications team, to help bring the University's stories to life!

 

Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will play an important role in delivering the Communications Plan and supporting major University-wide strategic projects. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys writing, editing, media engagement, and creating content across multiple platforms. From liaising with researchers and media to engaging with students, alumni, and the wider Canberra community, you’ll be at the heart of our storytelling efforts.

 

Key responsibilities include to:

  • Conceptualise, write, edit, and publish high-quality, engaging, and timely content across various channels.
  • Be a key point of contact for relevant faculties/business areas.
  • Develop and support strategic communication initiatives by aligning messaging with University goals and strategy.
  • Work closely with external and internal stakeholders, including journalists, faculties, researchers, and internal teams to craft and align communications according to strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to social media content creation, ensuring impactful and engaging content for central University-owned channels.
  • Attend and create content for key University events (some outside regular business hours).
  • Work alongside our Multimedia Content Producer to develop engaging visual content.

 

About you:

To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Strong writing skills, with overall excellent communication skills
  • A collaborative approach
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability to strategise and execute creative content
  • Excellent time management skills, in order to meet multiple projects objectives and deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in journalism or a similar role would be highly regarded
  • Experience with social medial management and content creation.
