About the role:
We are seeking a Community Fellow based in or near Victoria's Loddon Mallee / Northern Grampians region to join a multidisciplinary team working on the research project, Just Transmission: Advancing Coherence in Australia's Electricity Policy.
This nationally significant project aims to develop strategies for a fair and coherent approach to the development of new electricity transmission infrastructure across Australia. Through community-based fieldwork in Victoria and New South Wales, and policy analysis at multiple levels of government, the project will generate evidence to inform best practice approaches for engaging and benefiting regional communities as Australia transitions to renewable energy and strengthens the reliability of the electricity grid.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with the University of Canberra and local partner organisations in regional Victoria to co-design, organise, and conduct qualitative research activities relating to how communities are engaged in planning for new electricity transmission lines
Build and maintain strong relationships and lines of communication with local stakeholders on project activities
Assist in organising meetings, conducting interviews, coordinating workshops, and supporting fieldwork activities in the VNI West project area
About you:
You are a motivated and community-minded professional who:
Holds a Bachelor's degree in geography, sustainability, environmental social science, public policy, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
Has strong local networks and experience engaging with diverse stakeholders in community, project-based, advocacy, or research settings (being already based in, or affiliated with, a local community organisation may be helpful but is not a requirement).
Brings demonstrated experience in project administration, qualitative research and/or community organising.
Demonstrates excellent communication, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Holds a current Australian driver's licence and has access to a vehicle for regional fieldwork.
