About the role:

Due to an internal secondment opportunity, the University of Canberra is looking for a passionate and strategic leader to join our Careers and Employability team as Manager, Work Integrated Learning (WIL). In this key leadership role, reporting to the Associate Director, Careers and Employability, you will drive the strategic expansion and operational excellence of WIL across the university, with a strong focus on clinical and professional placements and internships that prepare students for real-world success.

Key responsibilities:

The Manager, WIL’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing WIL team to deliver exceptional placement and internship experiences for students
  • Provide strategic, technical, and professional advice to shape the future of WIL
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local and national employers to expand placement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculties to ensure the supply of mandatory professional placements.
  • Oversee employer engagement and stakeholder communications
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Manage complex initiatives including Commonwealth Prac Payments (CPP), agreements, internships and placements.

About you:

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and strength in building relationships with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
  • Leadership experience, a collaborative mindset, a commitment to student success and ability to deliver innovative solutions
  • Tertiary qualification or strong equivalent work experience
  • Good work ethic with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • A deep understanding of Work Integrated Learning, in particular internships and placements in higher education
  • Understanding of TECSA and legislative requirements of industry placement would be highly regarded
