About the opportunity:
Are you passionate about shaping education and research while championing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander perspectives? The Faculty of Education is committed to the integration of Indigenous knowledges into our curriculum and is seeking a dedicated educator and scholar to join the team contributing to the development and delivery of Indigenous Education programs. We use the notion of Country as Teacher as a placed based pedagogical approach that welcomes Indigenous and non-Indigenous students to relate with and learn on and from country. UC is open to considering this position as either an education focused or education and research focus pending receive applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach and support students in Indigenous Education units across face-to-face, online, and blended modes.
Design and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and field excursions informed by community knowledge and professional practice.
Lead curriculum development that reflects Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, schools, and professional bodies.
Contribute to research aligned with Indigenous education priorities, including securing grants and publishing scholarly work (for ER position consideration).
Supervise postgraduate research students and participate in Faculty activities.
About you:
To be considered for this role, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to education, value cultural knowledge, community engagement, and transformative learning experiences. Requirements include:
Master’s degree in Education (required)
PhD (desired)
Teaching qualifications and significant relevant experience in a school education context.
Maintaining and building strong connection with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, stakeholders and land.
A good record of research and publication, particularly in Indigenous education or related areas. (for ER position consideration).
