About the role:

Our People & Culture department is seeking a proactive and customer‑focused People & Wellbeing Coordinator to join the team. Working under the broad direction of the Manager, People & Wellbeing, the role plays an important role in supporting internal clients through the delivery of professional, accurate and timely advice and services across staff onboarding, wellbeing and general employment enquiries. This is an excellent opportunity for a HR professional who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, service‑oriented environment and takes pride in delivering high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

Working closely with colleagues across the university, the People & Wellbeing Coordinator is the first point of contact for staff HR enquiries and contribute to the continuous improvement of people processes and systems. Other responsibilities include:

  • Responding to general staff enquiries via phone, email and in person in a timely and professional manner
  • Providing accurate advice on university policies and procedures, escalating complex matters as required
  • Building strong professional relationships with hiring managers and key administrative staff across the University
  • Maintain expertise in grievance, misconduct, underperformance and performance frameworks, guiding employees and escalating complex matters to People & Culture Business Partners
  • Support employee wellbeing through regular check‑ins, active case management of ill or injured employees, and connection to appropriate University support services
  • Coordinate onboarding and ongoing employee support promoting culture and performance expectations
  • Support and administer central people processes, including Academic Promotions, Assistant Professor Reviews, Outside Studies Program and High-Performance Allowance

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Excellent customer service skills with a strong commitment to service excellence
  • Proven organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to exercise judgement and escalate matters appropriately
  • Experience working in HR administration, recruitment support or a similar advisory role (tertiary sector experience desirable but not essential)
  • Experience with case management desired but not essential
