About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Lecturer in Human Nutrition or Dietetics to join our Discipline of Nutrition and Dietetics. This fixed-term, part-time opportunity is ideal for an early-career academic who is committed to excellence in teaching, student engagement, and the scholarship of learning and teaching. In this rewarding role, you will contribute significantly to the delivery and development of undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition and dietetics education. As an Education Focused academic, you will be committed to student-centred learning and innovative teaching practices, while actively contributing to the scholarly and collegial life of the School and Faculty.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Convene units, lead and contribute to teaching and curriculum development
  • Coordinate units and develop contemporary, evidence-based learning materials.
  • Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, practical classes, laboratories, seminars, and workshops.
  • Support and mentor students through consultation and academic guidance.
  • Develop innovative teaching approaches that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to work-integrated learning and industry engagement activities.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating, and delivering university teaching programs.
  • Experience teaching across undergraduate and/or postgraduate education, including online and blended learning environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to student success, innovation in teaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and workplace health and safety principles.

Eligibility: 

  • A PhD (or enrolled and working towards PhD completion) in Human Nutrition or Dietetics.
  • Registration as a Nutritionist or Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), or eligibility to obtain APD status through Dietitians Australia.
