About the role: 
The University of Canberra is seeking an experienced Manager, Response & Recovery to drive the development and implementation of our emergency management and business continuity frameworks. This pivotal role sits within the People & Culture unit and reports to the Deputy Director, Risk and Safety. As Manager, Response & Recovery, you will lead the University's preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for emergencies and critical incidents. You’ll work collaboratively across faculties, business units, and external agencies to embed resilience into operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards while building capability across the organisation.
Key responsibilities: 
Lead strategic planning and continuous improvement of the Response & Recovery Framework. 
Coordinate critical incident responses and post-incident reviews. 
Develop and maintain emergency procedures, business continuity plans, and disaster recovery protocols. 
Deliver training programs and simulation exercises to build organisational capability. 
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support integrated planning and response. 
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and University policies. 
 
  About you: 
You will bring a strong mix of leadership, technical expertise, and interpersonal skills as well as:
Expertise in emergency management, critical incident coordination, and business continuity planning. 
Strong understanding of ISO standards, WHS legislation, and risk assessment methodologies. 
Proven ability to design and deliver training and capability-building programs. 
High-level digital literacy and experience using platforms for communication and planning. 
Strategic thinking and business acumen, with a focus on service excellence. 
A clear communicator who can influence and engage diverse audiences championing change. 
Strong organisational and problem solving skills.
