The Faculty of Business, Government & Law (BGL) is home to over 3500 students, including higher degrees by research students located in Canberra Law School, Canberra Business School and the Canberra School of Politics, Economics and Society. UC is recruiting a Faculty Manager to join the BGL team.

 

About this Role:

The Faculty manager reports to the Executive Dean and oversee finance, data analysis, reporting, and facilities while providing strategic leadership to professional staff teams. The role aligns education, research, business development, and operations to support the faculty’s core activities. Duties of the role include but not limited to: 

 

  • Development and implementation of strategic and operational plans in consultation with the Faculty Executive.  
  • Leadership, direction and performance development to empower the faculty’s professional teams to achieve operational objectives.  
  • Oversee the Faculty's budget, cash flow forecasting (including student load, academic growth opportunities and market share) and cost control processes to meet annual and project-specific budgets. 
  • Oversee the Faculty's marketing and external relations activity.
  • Oversee continual business process improvement.
  • Working with the Research Manager, provide collaborative support and guidance in relation to research grants management and the development of strategies. 
  • Assist the Executive Dean with adherence to HR policies and the development of the faculty workload model, and supporting Heads of School, Centre Directors and Program Directors with staff allocation to specific activities. 
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between academics and partners to ensure effective and efficient delivery of programs.  

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant qualification highly regarded
  • Extensive knowledge of university budgets and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams 
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management with effective communication skills.
  • Independently work alongside the Dean.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to provide high level support and guidance.
  • Actively pursuing the use of software, AI and other productivity enhancing tools across all faculty processes
